Letter From The Director

Dear Windsong Visitor:

The warmest greetings to you, from all of the Windsong crew! As the temperatures begin to cool and fall is in the air, our ensemble is already preparing great vocal chamber music for the upcoming season. I returned last month from the California wine country, and it occurred to me as I was driving home that a fine vocal ensemble can be compared to a fine wine—it’s comprised of superb components that are then carefully and artistically crafted into a complex and satisfying result. Our base materials are our singers and the music we address, and each of us involved then use our artistic talents and experience to produce refined and beautiful musical results. This year we welcome six new singers to Windsong who bring a tremendous level of beauty, ability, and commitment to our established ensemble. In my opinion we've never sounded better! I’m hoping you'll get the opportunity to hear us in live performances this year, and further information about our concerts is easy to locate in the "Concerts" section.

I don't know of another community based choral ensemble in Oklahoma that operates in a similar manner to Windsong. Our ensemble functions semi-professionally, in that our singers are some of the finest and most experienced in the state, and our budget must embrace expenditures from concert attire and hall rental to insurance and music purchase to guest artists and orchestras. For this reason we have a Fall fundraising drive, which is currently under way, and if you would like to make a tax-deductible contribution you may do so by visiting the "Donations" section. We are committed to keeping our ticket prices extremely low, and are doing everything we can to make world-class chamber music affordable and accessible right here in Oklahoma City.

Even though Windsong had humble, but ambitious beginnings we have been able to establish our ensemble as one of the finest of its kind in the United States. My hat is off to our singers, who bring a great devotion to our cause, and to our audience members who have come to expect excellence and innovation and perhaps a little "thinking out of the box" at Windsong concerts. Just wait-this season will bring even more! We hope you’ll experience Windsong!
